Kathmandu Knights suffers harsh exit

Kathmandu – Kathmandu Knights suffered a harsh exit in an ongoing Nepal T20 League.

Biratnagar Super Kings trounced Kathmandu Knights, who only had 11 players in the squad by 99 runs.

The Knights, who began with fielding neither had a coach nor manager or any other staff in the dugout in their eliminator match against Biratnagar Super Kings today.

The spectators at TU Cirkcet ground even witnessed a rare moment. The lack of players in the squad led Kathmandu’s wicketkeeper Lokesh Bam step up for bowling.

Knights, who were in a pitful situation received a winning target of 183 runs. The Super Kings pitched 182 runs with the loss of 6 wickets. Even though Kathmandu Knights took 2 early wickets of Gauranshu Sharma and Arjun Saud for 1 and 2 runs, Rohit Paudel stepped up to change the momentum.

Skipper Rohit contributed the highest of 61 runs off 49 deliveries with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Moreover, Bibek Yadav blasting 3 boundaries each collected 46 runs off 18 deliveries remaining undefeated.

With Hussain Talat and Raj Nannan scoring 38 and 23 runs, Prithu Baskota left the crese for 1.

While Kathmandu’s bowlers Kamal Singh Airee and Anil Kharel picked 2 wickets each, Abinash Bohara and Gautam KC took 1.

Later, Kathmandu lost all its wickets in 12.4 overs for 83 runs. Abinash Bohara played not-out innings collecting the highest of 16 runs. Lokesh Bam (13), Gyanendra Malla (15), and Kamal Singh Airee (10) somehow scored in double digits.

The remaining struggled to earn more than 8. Santosh Kakri 8, Sandeep Rajali and Sunam Gautam 4, Basir Ahamad 5, Saurav Khanal 1, Gautam KC 0, and Anil Kharel added 1 to 83 runs total.

Biratnagar Super Kings Surya Tamang picked up 4 wickets giving away 14 runs in 2.4 overs. Keon Joseph and Sahab Alam claimed 2. Further, Hussain Talat booked 1.

With the victory, Biratnagar Super Kings confirms their Playoff 2 date with Janakpur Royals. The winner of playoff 2 will see Lumbini All Stars in the finale of the first-ever Nepal T20 League, which is full of chaos.
