Lumbini advances to the finale

Kathmandu – Lumbini All Stars sidelined Janakpur Royals by 6 runs to confirm their spot in the final of the Nepal T20 League.

Invited to bat first at TU Cricket Ground, the All Stars scored 143/8 in an allocated 20 overs. Ishan Pandey contributed the highest of 38 runs off 39 deliveries with 3 fours and 1 six.

With Harmeet Singh leaving the crease following a royal duck out, Lahirau Milantha collected 16 runs off 17 balls. Kushal Bhurtel 3, Dipendra Singh Airee 10, Anil Sah 24, Bipul Sharma 20, and Shadley van Schalkwyk added 17 runs to the total. Gulsan Jha remained not out for 0.

Jankapur’s bowlers Ashan Priyanjan, Sompal Kami, and Jitendra Mukhiya claimed 2 wickets each. Moreover, Trevon Griffith and Pawan Sarraf claimed a piece.

Later, Lumbini All Stars stopped Janakpur Royals for 137 runs to defend the winning target of 144 runs. Samiullah Shinwari added the utmost of 45 runs to the tally. With openers Sharafuddin Ashraf and Trevon Griffith getting dismissed for 24 and 10 runs respectively, Dilip Nath got duck out.

Sundeep Jora 2, Ashan Priyanjan 7, Pawan Sarraf* 30, and Sompal Kami* contributed 2 runs.

While, Lumbini’s spinners Dipendra Singh Airee, Sagar Dhakal, and Bipul Sharma claimed 2 wickets each, Shadley took one.

With the victory, Lumbini All Stars has advanced to the finale of the first edition of the Nepal T20 League. However, Playoff 2 will decide Janakpur Royals’ future in the tournament.
