Kathmandu – Jawalakhel Youth Club secured a 3-0 victory against the 8-time champions Manang Marshyangdi Club in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League on Saturday at Chyasal Stadium.
Nkoto Synous Masoabi scored a brace, while Fode Fofana scored the apiece in Jawalakhel’s victory. Jawalakhel began the match aggressively, with Masoabi opening the scoring in the 4th minute. The team went into halftime with a one-goal lead and continued to dominate in the second half, scoring twice more in injury time.
Fofana doubled the lead in the 1st minute of injury time, followed by Masoabi’s second goal in the fifth minute. Masoabi was later named the player of the match for his exceptional performance.
The win took Jawalakhel to the top of the league table with 17 points from 9 matches, while Manang slipped to third place with 15 points.
In another game played on the same day, defending champions Machhindra FC and New Road Team (NRT) played out a 1-1 draw at Dasarath Stadium.
Karim Omolaja scored a stunner in the 39th minute, keeping Machhindra ahead, but NRT’s Stephane Junior Nguimbous canceled out their lead equalizing in the 67th minute.
The draw moved Machhindra to 6th place in the table with 13 points, while NRT stands still in 12th place with 7 points.
