ICC Chair Greg Barclay Set To Visit Nepal

Kathmandu (Hamro Khelkud) – International Cricket Council (ICC) chair Greg Barclay is set to visit Nepal next week. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has informed about Barclay’s visit through a release on Wednesday evening.

In the release, CAN expressed the importance of Barclay’s visit to unlock more opportunities and aid in the development of cricket in Nepal. Barclay is set to arrive in Kathmandu on March 18 and will spend four days in Nepal.

During his visit, Barclay is scheduled to visit the TU International Cricket Ground and Mulpani Cricket Stadium. Additionally, he is set to meet with the Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Youth and Sports regarding cricket support, economic prospects, and sports policy.

Regarding his upcoming visit, Barclay said, “I am delighted to be visiting Nepal to see first-hand, the progress that has been achieved by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) team. The Association has worked to grow participation and advance the popularity and support for the sport in the region. The success stories have already begun to manifest in the form of the senior men’s team’s qualification for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies in the coming months.”

CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand echoed Barclay’s sentiments, expressing excitement about the visit and optimism for its potential for the development of Nepali cricket.
