Kathmandu – Himalayan Sherpa emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against Nepal Police Club in an ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League 2023 at Dasarath Stadium.
Himalayan Sherpa beat departmental team Nepal Police 2-1 in the tightly contested match on Monday. Abayoumi Fakunle and Amrit Shrestha netted once each for the winning team, while Soujan Rai scored a consolation goal for Nepal Police.
Fakunle headed the ball into the back of the net from Khamir Gilsan’s cross to give Sherpa a lead in the 14th minute. However, 16 minutes later, Soujan converted a rebound to level the match.
Amrit restored Himalayan Sherpa’s lead in the 51st minute with a header from Sushil Rai’s corner, securing Sherpa’s victory.
The win saw Himalayan Sherpa climb to the 7th position in the league table with 20 points from 15 matches, while Nepal Police slipped down to the relegation zone again with 15 points from the same number of matches.
Meanwhile, at ANFA Complex, FC Khumaltar secured a comfortable 4-2 victory over league leaders Jawalakhel Youth Club. Stephane Samir Binong scored a hat-trick, and Messouke Olomou scored a goal for Khumaltar, while Jawalakhel pulled two goals back through Rohit Subba’s own goal and Binod KC.
Stephane scored in the 20th, 43rd, and 45+3 minutes to complete his first hat-trick of the league.
The win helped Khumaltar move up to the 11th position with 17 points, while Jawalakhel remained constant at the top with 24 points.
