Kathmandu – The Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) has selected 18 players for a closed camp from an open selection of 36 players. The three-day-long selection process was held at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall to form a Nepal National Volleyball Team.
National Volleyball Team skipper Em Bahadur Gurung and Libero Ishwar Thapa Magar did not participate in the selection, leading to their exclusion from the team.
Head Coach Jagadish Bhatta and Assistant Coach Bharat Yadav led the selection process and chose the 18 players for the closed camp. The Nepal Men’s Volleyball squad is set to compete in the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD) and the CAVA Men’s Volleyball Nations League later this year.
The ASIAD is scheduled to take place in China from September 23 to October 3, while the CAVA will be held in Kyrgyzstan from June 16 to 25. Nepal will compete against the hosts Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, and Turkmenistan in the CAVA tournament.
The selected players will now train in a closed camp to prepare for the upcoming tournaments. The NVA hopes that the selected players will represent Nepal with skill and passion, bringing glory to their country on an international level.
