Gandaki registers second consecutive win, Bagmati ruled out

Kathmandu – Gandaki Province beat Karnali Province to register a second consecutive win in an ongoing Prime Minister’s One Day National Cricket Tournament. In contrast, Bagmati Province ruled out following the third consecutive defeat against Lumbini Province.

Spinner Anil Kharel and Skipper Dev Khanal performed as Lumbini Province defeated Bagmati Province by 8 wickets to mark a winning start in the tournament. It took Lumbini 35.4 overs to chase the winning target of 155 runs at the cost of 2 wickets at Mulpani Cricket Ground.

Opener Aakash Tripathi found his way back to the dugout with 3 runs in the pocket off 12 deliveries. Prajjwol Thapa added 29 runs to the tally off 42 balls. With 8 fours and 2 sixes, Skipper Dev remained unbeaten for 77 runs off 119 balls. From 41 balls faced, Sandeep Rajali scored 29 runs staying at the crease till the end.

Bagmati’s Rijan Dhakal and Pratis GC took a wicket each. Bagmati, who won the toss and elected to bat first, got swept out for 38.1 overs with a total of 154 runs. Captain Gyanendra Malla secured the highest of 33 runs for Bagmati off 46 balls.

Opening batsman Ashutosh Ghiraiya was dismissed for 22 runs off 34 balls. Rit Gautam got out for 6 runs off 13 balls. Ishan Pandey and Prithu Baskota were trashed at 0.

Surya Tamang (17), Durgesh Thapa (32), Nandan Yadav (1), Pratish GC (15), and Rijan Dhakal added 5 runs to the total. Ramnaresh Giri remained unbeaten for 10 runs off 13 deliveries.

Anil Kharel of Lumbini took 4 wickets in 10 overs giving away 30 runs with 3 maidens. While, Bishal Bikram KC and Avishek Gautam took 2 wickets each, Krishna Karki and Mohammad Hussein snaffled.

Gandaki’s second consecutive win

Gandaki Province defeated Karnali Province at TU Cricket Ground to record the second consecutive win in the PM Cup. Gandaki, who lost the toss and batted first collected 208 runs in the prescribed 50 overs losing 9 wickets.

Avishek Basnet scored the highest runs of 51 off 45 balls for Gandaki. Opener Arjun Kumal added 49 runs off 88 deliveries. Bidhan Shrestha collected 46 runs off 104 balls.

Sameer Kandel (4), Sandeep Chhetri (8), Bipin Khatri (3), Karan Pangeni (1), Kamal Pariyar (0), and Subash Bhandari got dismissed for 14 runs. Krishna Poudel and Chandra Paudel lasted till the end with 4 and 1 runs respectively.

Anuj Chanara of Karnali took the 4 wickets in 9 overs giving away 51 runs. Prakash Jaishi took 3 and Dinesh Adhikari took 2 wickets.

Himanshu Shahi’s half-century went into vain as Karnali Province failed to chase the winning target of 209 runs and got all out for 176 runs off 47 overs. Middle-order batsman Himanshu stuck to the crease till the end with 69 runs off 116 deliveries.

Bipin Rawal (6), Rabindra Shahi (42), Arjun Gharti (5), Nischal Rawal (0), Suwash Ayer (5), Prakash Jaishi (15), Dipendra Rawat (2), Dinesh Adhikari (9), Diwan Pun (5), and Anuj Chanara left the crease for 4 runs.

Gandaki’s Subash Bhandari and Chandra Paudel took 3 wickets each in 10 overs. Bipin took 2 whereas Kamal Pariyar and Avishek Basnet took a single wicket each.
