From May 17, with up to 10,000 spectators will be allowed to return to all sporting activities in stadiums in UK. It will be just in time for the final weekend of the Premier League season.
Yesterday’s government announcement paves the way for fans to attend the summer’s major sporting events, including Wimbledon, Euro 2020 football tournament matches, Derby and Royal Ascot racing matches, Open Golf, British Grand Prix, England cricket matches, and the new Hundred tournament.
Instead of going on the conventional tour, it also increases the chance of the British & Irish Lions playing South Africa on these shores. The scheduling ensures that on May23, fans will be able to watch the season’s final Premier League matches.
Although that may lead to some clubs arguing that home sides have an unfair advantage. The Football Association hopes that the number of fans will be raised by the end of Euro 2020. Wembley hosts seven matches, starting on June 13th with England v Croatia. England v Scotland will take place on June 18 before the last group match in England, against the Czech Republic on June 24.
