Kathmandu – Church Boys United Football Club and New Road Team – NRT played a thrilling stalemate in the ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League at Chyasal Stadium on Tuesday.

The match ended in a draw after Church Boys failed to maintain their 2-0 lead. Ashish Chaudhary and Skipper Ananta Tamang scored for Church Boys while Rohan Khadgi and Saroj Tamang scored for NRT.
Church Boys opened the scoring in the 20th minute, with Aasish Chaudhary scoring after receiving a through pass from Aasish Chapagain and beating NRT’s goalkeeper Pujan Hona in a one-on-one situation.

Ananta Tamang extended Church Boys’ lead in the 62nd minute by scoring a spectacular freekick.

However, NRT fought back and opened their account through substitute Rohan Khadgi, who scored a goal from inside the box after finding space between Church Boys’ defenders.

Church Boys failed to hold on to their lead in the dying minutes. In the fourth minute of the injury time, Saroj Tamang fired the ball into the back of the net receiving a short freekick taken by Kritish Ratna Chhunju, saving NRT from defeat.

Despite the draw, Church Boys moved to the second position in the points table with 12 points from six matches remaining undefeated. Meanwhile, winless NRT remained in the relegation zone with only three points from the same number of matches.
