CAN officially appoints Desai as head coach

Kathmandu – The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Monday officially appointed Monty Desai as the head coach of the Nepal National Cricket Team.

Desai, who arrived in Nepal on January 28th, took charge of the team the next day. But, he was officially appointed as the head coach after working with the squad for 10 days. The CAN struggled to get approval from National Sports Council (NSC) which delayed Desai’s appointment. He has signed a two-year agreement with CAN.

Desai’s first assignment will be the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 series, hosted by Nepal, featuring Namibia and Scotland.

Nepal is currently in second-to-last place in the competition with 18 points from 24 matches, while Scotland leads the table with 46 points from 32 matches and Namibia is third with 37 points from 30 matches.
