Rizwan in Nepal to visit Sandeep Lamichhane

By a Staff Reporter

Pakistan’s star wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, has traveled to Nepal to show support for Nepali cricketer, Sandeep Lamichhane.

Lamichhane had recently returned to the Nepali team after facing rape allegations. A source from the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) confirmed that Rizwan met with Lamichhane to encourage him and lift his morale. Additionally, Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik is reportedly also looking to visit Nepal and meet with Lamichhane.

On Monday, Rizwan also met with the Nepali cricket team to offer advice before returning to Pakistan. The recent lifting of Sandeep’s suspension by the board meeting in Pokhara played a role in Rizwan’s decision to visit and support him. Sandeep has recently joined closed training sessions with the senior team and looks set to play in the ICC World League 2 triangular ODI series against Scotland and Namibia in TU.

Sandeep was accused of raping a minor in August, which led to a complaint being filed in the Gaushala police station. However, he was released on a bond of 20 lakhs and banned from traveling abroad by the Patan High Court. Sandeep surrendered to the Nepal Police in October and spent 99 days in custody.

Rizwan is a well-known batsman in the world of T20 cricket and is currently ranked second in the World T20I rankings. He has scored over 2,600 runs in 80 T20Is and was a key player in Pakistan’s 10-wicket victory over India in the T20 World Cup last year. Known for his class, responsibility, and big innings, Rizwan has proved himself in numerous occasions.
