Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Nepal National Team midfielder Arik Bista has secured a contract with the I-League side Shillong Lajong.
The Meghalaya-based club announced the signing through social media on Thursday, have signed Arik for the remainder of the I-League season. This move follows his recent collaboration with the Indian agency Ibisa Sports.
Arik Bista is set to be the second Nepali player to join Shillong in the I-League, following the footsteps of former national team captain Anil Gurung. Arik, who served as the marquee player and captain for Butwal Lumbini FC this season, previously represented Lalitpur City FC in the inaugural edition of the Nepal Super League.
Having become a regular member of the national team and progressing through various age groups, Arik made his international debut in a friendly against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2020.
His experience also includes playing for the New Road team in the Martyr’s Memorial A Division League and was later part of the Church Boys United team that clinched the A Division League title last season.
Shillong Lajong are currently fifth in the league having played 11 matches so far. The winners of the I-League this season will be promoted to the Indian Super League.
