Kathmandu – The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has denied permission to its former president Ganesh Thapa from expressing his personal views during the executive committee meeting of ANFA while his 10-year ban remains in force.
ANFA General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar ruled out any possibility of fulfilling Thapa’s demand.
“I don’t know why he wrote such letter,” said Tuladhar referring to Thapa’s letter received on Tuesday requesting ANFA to allow him express his views during an executive committee meeting of ANFA. “There is no possibility of allowing a person banned for 10 years from all football-related activities to express his views in an official meeting. The statutes of FIFA and ANFA do not allow it to happen. This is not a natural demand.”
Writing a letter to ANFA President Karma Chiring Sherpa on Tuesday, the former president had requested Sherpa to allow him express his views during the executive committee meeting of ANFA scheduled for today (January 6).
“It has become imperative for me to clarify the general public through ANFA’s executive committee about the baseless allegations labeled against me by the incumbent ANFA president,” reads the letter written by disgraced Thapa, who was banned for 10 years by FIFA in 2015 for his alleged involvement in bribery and corruption among other charges.
Thapa argued that the allegations made by Sherpa against a player and a manager has created a false impression about his loyalty and hard work.
“While I was the president of ANFA, your panel had labeled various allegations against me including written charges. However, teams dispatched by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority – a constitutional body – and FIFA itself have given me a clean chit after investigation which ANFA officials are well aware of,” said Thapa in his letter to Sherpa.
