Women’s football team captain injured during training

Kathmandu – National women’s football team skipper Renuka Nagarkoti has been hospitalized due to an injury sustained during a regular training on Monday. She has to undergo surgery, informed All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

According to the football governing body, her clavicle collar bone (beauty bone) was fractured during a training session at ANFA Complex, Satdobato. She was undergoing training for the upcoming Asian Cup.

ANFA said that preparations were being made for her surgery at Gwarko-based B and B Hospital.

Physiotherapist of the women’s team Aavas Rajbhandari informed that senior surgeon Dr Amit Joshi will operate her today itself. He added that the duration of her recovery will be known only after the surgery.

It is certain that Nagarloti will miss the Women’s SAFF Championship to be held in Nepal from August 29 to September 10. Nagarkoti is also the captain of the women’s team of Armed Police Force Club. She has been a regular member of the national squad since 2010.
