Kathmandu – The National Women’s League scheduled to kick off this week under the initiative of the Women’s Committee of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has been postponed until further notice.
The women’s league has been postponed indefinitely due to the risk of the third wave of Covid-19, informed ANFA’s General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar.
“We have decided to defer the league and write letters to the stakeholders regarding the postponement,” said Tuladhar, adding, “The league has been postponed until further notice.”
The 8-team women’s league was all set to kick off on Saturday (January 29). The clubs competing in the national women’s league include Tribhuvan Army Football Club, APF FC, Nepal Police Club, Biratnagar Municipality, Waling Municipality, Chandrapur Municipality, Dhangadhi Sub Metropolitan City, and Lalitpur Metropolitan City. Dhangadhi and Lalitpur have been promoted to the national league as winners and runners-up of lower league.
APF had won the league last year remaining unbeaten through the competition. Army had secured the second place. Only 7 teams had competed in the women’s league last year. Chandragadhi were relegated after finishing in the bottom of the table.
