WI ‘A’ Inflict Heavy Defeat On Nepal To Lead Series 2-1

Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – The visiting contingent, West Indies ‘A’, have inflicted a heavy defeat on the hosts, Nepal, in the third T20 of five to lead the series 2-1. The Caribbean side that started the series with a loss came back to lead the series 2-1 with a 76-run victory on Wednesday.

Nepal, chasing a big target of 228 runs, were bundled over for 151 runs in 19.2 overs. Opener Lokesh Bam’s steady innings and Karan KC’s quickfire innings of 28 each were the top scores in today’s outing.

Karan took 17 deliveries to get to the score while Lokesh played 29 deliveries. Kushal Malla got off to a decent start before being dismissed for an 11-ball 20. Binod Bhandari scored 19 while Anil Sah contributed 14 runs to the total.

Hayden Walsh took three wickets for West Indies while Gudakesh Motie took two. Matthew Forde, Obed McCoy and Fabian Allen picked up one scalp each.

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss at the TU Cricket Ground, the visitors posted 227/3 in 20 overs thanks to an unbeaten ton from opener Johnson Charles. Charles took 61 deliveries with 13 fours and seven sixes to finish on 119 runs. Similarly, Andre Fletcher played a 33-ball 53 with four fours and three maximums. Fabian Allen, Alick Athanaze and Keemo Paul chipped in with 19, 17 and 13 runs respectively.

Nepal’s Karan KC and Sagar Dhakal, albeit expensive, managed to take one wicket each. 

The fourth match of the series will be played on Thursday with the fifth one scheduled for Saturday.
