West Ham United’s dreams of finishing in the top four were dashed. Diop and Lingard scored one each to cancel Newcastle’s two goal lead but Joe Willock’s late header gave Newcastle United a 3-2 victory in a tense match.
West Ham are flying this season as they are pushing for the top 4 spot but had to deal with a blow this weekend. West Ham went down via Issa Diop’s own goal. Criag Dawson was sent off in the 36th minute as well and West Ham’s problems rose. 5 minutes later in the 41st minute West Ham went two goals down as Fabianski made a mistake and Joelinton capitalized to make it 2-0.
Issa Diop who had scored the own goal, scored on the other side to bring back the hammers. Minutes later Jese Lingard converted a penalty and brought West Ham back in the game. But Newcastle had the alst laugh as Joe Willock scored the late winner in the 82nd minute.
With 55 points from 32 games, West Ham sit in fourth position, one point ahead of Chelsea, who have a game in hand. Newcastle moved nine points clear of third-from-bottom Fulham.
