United beat City at Etihad

Manchester United ended Manchester City’s Premier League winning streak with a 2-0 win at the Etihad. Thanks to Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw scored in either haves of the match, Manchester United won.

Manchester City started poorly and ended the match poorly. Gabriel Jesus took down Anthony Martial inside the area after 34 seconds. United were awarded a penalty and Bruno Fernandes converted it home. Ederson nearly sved it but the power on the the shot was too much to stop it.

After 24 minutes, Olexandr Zinchenko forced a decent saving from Dean Henderson. Henderson denied Ilkay Gundogan moments later. As the half time was near Henderson tipped over Kevin De Bruyne’s free kick, while Riyad Mahrez’s shot went just past the post.

Right after the break, City came close to equalizing, but Rodri’s shot clipped the top of the bar. Shaw started and completed a quick attack with a steady finish into the bottom corner. After 68 minutes, the visitors almost added a third when Martial was through on target, but Ederson saved from near range. Late on, Raheem Sterling came close to scoring but struggled to connect with Kyle Walker’s cross.

City pushed hard, but United kept on to keep their slender title hopes alive.
