Stellar Bowling Hands Nepal A Ten-Wicket Win Over Bahrain

Nepal defeated Bahrain in the second match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers, thanks to a stellar bowling performance. Nepal defeated Bahrain by ten wickets, chasing the target in just 2.5 overs.

Chasing a target of just 32 runs, Nepal got to the total in just 2.5 overs without losing any wickets. This is Nepal’s second straight win in the tournament. Nepal defeated Malaysia by five runs in an exciting match yesterday.

Kabita Kunwar scored 18 runs in 14 deliveries with three boundaries while Sita Rana Magar remained unbeaten with three runs in two deliveries. 

Earlier, Bahrain, who opted to bat after winning the toss, were bundled over on 31 runs in 15.4 overs. Bahrain skipper Deepika scored 11 runs in 20 deliveries. The rest of the batters couldn’t reach double figures. Six players couldn’t add any runs on the board.

Indu Barma took three wickets in four overs with two maidens, giving away just five runs in the process. Khushi Dangol bowled 1.4 overs without giving away any runs and took two wickets. Kabita Kunwar took one wicket with two maidens, giving away just seven runs in four overs. Puja Mahato took one wicket for four runs in two overs while skipper Rubina Chhetri took one wicket for eight runs in three overs. 

Nepal will take on Bhutan on Sunday before facing Qatar on Tuesday and UAE the day after. The top two teams in the group will contest the semifinals while the two finalists will qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
