Shahid Afridi to play in Nepal

Global T20 sensation Shahid Afridi will play in the Everest Premier League (EPL) season 2021 representing Kathmandu Kings XI. Nepal’s biggest Twenty20 league will be held at TU International Cricket Stadium from September 25 to October 9.

Tele Holdings Pvt. Ltd., the owner of Kathmandu Kings XI, confirmed on Monday that Afridi will be playing for the team. Having signed Irish allrounder Kevin O’Brien and Srilankan Faraveez Maharoof in the previous edition, Kathmandu has hit yet another masterstroke with inclusion of Pakistani great.

With EPL clashing with Indian Premier League and T20 World Cup, there were fears that big names would not be available for the tournament. But, Director Rohit Gupta confirmed Afridi will be joined by other big names depending on their availability. He also said Afridi’s interest to play in Nepal was the decisive factor in the deal.

Kathmandu has already announced signing of star spinner Sandeep Lamichhane. They also brought in Dipendra Singh Airee from Chitwan Tigers. Shubhash Khakurel is also with the team.
