Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Koshi Province Women’s Cricket Team skipper Rubina Chhetry has been named the Best Player of the PM Cup Women’s National Championship 2080.
Rubina, who led her team, Koshi Province, from the front, performed both with the bat as well as the ball to take home the title of the best player. Rubina received a Yamaha 125 cc scooter with the award. Rubina took her tally to 345 runs in ten matches of the tournament, including a half-century in the final as well. She scored a total of 56 fours and three sixes while also taking 11 wickets.
Rubina put in an impressive all-around performance throughout the competition and led with both bat and ball. Against Karnali, she scored 25 runs and claimed one wicket. She made two runs against Bagmati, 57 against Madhesh, 41 against APF, 4 against Gandaki, 51 against Sudurpaschim, 44 against Lumbini, 22 against APF, and 44 against Sudurpaschim in the Qualifier.
On the bowling front, Rubina took four wickets against Lumbini and three wickets against Gandaki. She also earned her two Player of the Match awards in the process. In the final, she made 62 runs and took one wicket, with 7 fours and 1 six off 58 balls. Despite her individual brilliance, her efforts fell short of leading her team to victory.
Gandaki’s Jyotsnika Marasini received the emerging player, accumulating 91 runs in 7 matches, including an innings of 50 runs against Karnali. She is set to receive cricket materials worth fifty thousand rupees.
Pooja Mahato was awarded as the best bowler of the competition, claiming 12 wickets in 7 matches. She is set to receive a prize of fifty thousand rupees as well. Pooja achieved this feat by taking 12 wickets for 96 runs in 26.3 overs across the tournament.
Suman Khatiwada was selected as the best batter. Scoring a total of 212 runs in 7 matches, Suman will receive a prize of fifty thousand rupees.
APF clinched the title by defeating Koshi by 11 runs in the final, concluding the tournament that was held in a round-robin league format for the very first time .
