Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Rohit Kumar Paudel, the Nepal National Cricket Team captain and Gyanendra Malla, former Nepal National Cricket Team have been unveiled as the captain and coach of Nepal APF Club’s cricket team. The two were announced in their new roles ahead of the PM Cup that is set to commence from Saturday onwards.
Malla only last month completed the ICC Level 2 Coaching Course. He also worked as a coach at the Kathmandu Training Centre for a long time. In recent times, he has been associated with the Cricket Excellence Centre alongside Paras Khadka. Malla played for APF from 2011 to 2020 and captained the side as well. He replaces Rajesh Shrestha as the coach of the team.
On the other hand, Rohit Paudel will start his second stint with APF, but this time as the skipper. Rohit was with APF when they won the PM Cup title back in 2018.
Malla retired from his playing stint five months ago. Malla, who debuted for the senior national team in 2006, played for the last time against Ireland on July 4, 2023.
Malla played 37 ODIs and 45 T20Is for Nepal and is regarded as one of the best players to have ever played for the country. He also captained Nepal from 2019 to 2021.
