By a Staff Reporter

Kathmandu – Church Boys United Football Club’s custodian Guillaume Yves Priso Njanga blocked the last-minute penalty to save his side from the first defeat in an ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Divison League.

Manish Dangi’s spot kick was blocked by Priso in injury time as Sankata Club played a stalemate with Church Boys at ANFA Complex.

Neither side was able to convert their chances, with the crossbar becoming the barrier multiple times. Prashant Laksham’s shot hit the woodwork in the 16th minute, followed by Junior Engune’s attempt being denied by the crossbar, restricting either team from taking the lead.

Church Boys missed a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 18th minute as Aashish Chapagain was unable to beat Sankata’s goalkeeper Bishnu Kumar KC in a one-on-one situation.

Arik Bista’s goalline clearance in the 43rd minute prevented Sankata from going ahead at the break, while Manoj Rai’s clearance in the second half stopped Sankata again from taking the lead.

Both teams were unable to convert their chances in injury time as well. Milan Rai’s chip found Anjan Bista in the box, who headed the ball into the hands of Sankata’s goalie. In the next move, Junior Eugene failed to beat Priso in a one-on-one situation.

Kamal Shrestha handed the ball while attempting to block the cross in injury time which earned Sankata a penalty. Manish Dangi took the shot, which was perfectly saved by Priso.

With this result, Church Boys maintain their unbeaten streak and remain at the top of the points table with 10 points from four matches, while Sankata is in eighth place with 5 points from four matches.
