Kathmandu – The defending champions Machhindra FC earned their first three points in an ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League.
Nigerian forward Afeez Olawale Oladipo netted twice as Machhindra beat Nepal Police Club 2-1 at Dasarath Stadium.
Nepal Police Club took an early lead, capitalizing on a corner. Rabi Paswan received a short corner kick and found Anjan Rai in the box. Anjan then headed the ball home in the 9th minute of the match.
However, Police failed to hold on to their advantage as Olawale scored his first goal, tapping in a rebound in an empty net to level the match in the 29th minute.
Olawale then scored his second goal in the 41st minute, taking control of Yuta Suzuki’s long pass and finishing at the empty post, beating the goalkeeper.
Both Olawale and Suzuki marked their debut for the defending champions. Due to a delay in their work permit, it took them until the fourth game to make their debut.
Earlier, in the first match, 10-men Friends Club earned their first victory as well, defeating Jawalakhel Youth Club by the same margin.
Rafiq Aminu and Prakash Budhathoki scored for Friends Club in the 19th and 40th minute, respectively, while Fode Fofana scored a consolation for Jawalakhel in the 87th minute.
