Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Taekwondo’s Palesha Govardhan has become the first Nepali para-athlete in history to win a medal at the Asian Para Games.

Palesha bagged a bronze medal in the Taekwondo K44 47 KG category in the ongoing Asian Para Games Hangzhou, China, to become the first Nepali ever to win a medal in the games’ history.
Palesha had entered the semifinals by defeating China’s Yang Li Ting 14-1 in the first matchup. However, she was defeated by Kazaksthan’s Kamilya Dosmalova 16-10 in the semifinals. But her medal was confirmed after she received a ‘bye’ in the repechage.
China’s Li Ting was defeated by China’s Li Yujie in the repechage. Iran’s Roza Ebrahimi will take on Kazakshtan’s Kamilya for the gold medal in this category.
