Kathmandu – News 24 Television channel has won the title of the First FNJ Media Cup Futsal on Tuesday. News 24 defeated Lalitpur chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journajists (FNJ) 5-2 during the final held at Chyasal-based National Sports Centre to lift the title.
Earlier during the semifinal held on Tuesday, News 24 had defeated Kaski Chapter of FNJ 7-2 to secure a place in the final. FNJ Lalitpur on the other hand Shilapatra.com to fix the final date against News 24.
News 24 received a cash prize of Rs 25,000 along with the trophy while the runners-up received Rs 15,000.
A total of 16 teams had participated in the two-day event. Suraj Maharjan of News 24 was adjudged the best player of the tournament while Piyush Bahadur Shrestha of the same team was declared the best goalkeeper. Both of then received cash prize of Rs 2500 each.
The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) had organized the Media Cup Futsal to mark its 67th anniversary.
