New Diamond clinches title sidelining five-time champion

Kathmandu – Hongwanji New Diamond Youth Sports Academy clinched the title of 6th KNP Nerolac National Women’s Volleyball sidelining the five-time champion Nepal APF Club.

The intense final at NSC Covered Hall saw New Diamond come out on top with a 3-2 win. New Diamond started strong, securing the first set with a 28-26 score, but then lost the second set 21-25. They bounced back in the third set, beating APF 25-22, but fell behind in the fourth set with a score of 24-26.

However, they regained momentum in the fifth set and secured a comfortable 15-9 victory, earning their maiden KNP Nerolac National Women’s Volleyball title. Pragati Nath of the New Diamond was adjudged player of the match. She received NRs. 10,000.

Champions New Diamond was rewarded with NRs. 3,00,000 while runners-up APF pursed NRs. 1,50,000. Nepal Police Club (NPC) who finished third received NRs. 75,000.

Pratibha Mali of New Diamond, who put on a fantastic display throughout the tournament, was named the Most Valuable Player and received a reward of NRs. 50,000. Salina Budha Magar of New Diamond was also recognized as the Emerging Player.

Other award winners included Pragati Nath, named the best setter, and Salina Shrestha, adjudged Best Libero. Additionally, Kumar Rai of New Diamond received the best coach award.

Furthermore, APF’s Niruta Thagunna, Saraswati Chaudhary, and Hira KC were named Best Spiker, Sever, and Bloker respectively.

The best players in each category pursed NRs. 15,000 each.

Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Nepal Armed Police Force Club (APF), Nepal Police Club (NPC), and Hongwanji New Diamond Youth Club competed in the championship organized by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation.
