Nepal’s Practice Match Against Thailand Abandoned Due To Rain

Kathmandu – T20 practice match between Nepal and Thailand has been abandoned due to rain without any result. 

The final fixture for the Nepal Women’s Team ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers was cancelled due to rain after the end of the first innings. 

Thailand chose to bat after winning the toss and scored 127 runs at the loss of five wickets in the 20 overs. Thailand skipper Nathakan Chanthan scored an unbeaten 78-run inning.

Nepal’s Kabita Kunwar took two wickets in four overs, giving away 23 runs in the process. Puja Mahato took one wicket for 21 runs in three overs. Khushi Dangol took one wicket, giving away 15 runs in four overs. Sita Rana Magar remained wicketless, bowling four overs for 16 runs.

Indu Barma took one wicket giving away an expensive 25 runs in three eovers.

The match was affected due to rain after just three bowls were bowled in the second innings. Sita Rana Magar was already back in the pavilion by then. 

Nepal had defeated Hong Kong by 13 runs owing to D/L method to win the Quadrangular Series that included Malaysia and Kuwait as well. 

Nepal have been grouped alongside the UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Bhutan and Bahrain in Group A of the Qualifiers. China, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Myanmar and Thailand make up Group B. The top two teams in each group will contest the semifinals.

The two finalists will qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Nepal will take on Malaysia on August 31, Bahrain on September 1, Bhutan on September 3, Qatar on September 4 and the UAE on September 6.
