Nepal’s opportunity to take revenge against Namibia

By a Staff Reporter

Nepal will face Namibia for the second time in the ICC World Cup League-2 Tri-Series ODI today. The match will begin from 3:45 PM NST at Ary. Following the 40 runs defeat against Namibia in the last outing, Nepal will step in the Cambusdoon New Ground to take a revenge.

Visitors Nepal created a history lately by defeating the home side Scotland. This evening, Nepal will begin a match to payback the loss against Namibia with high morale. In the last outing Nepal were all out for 180 runs in 46.5 overs while chasing a competitive target of 221 runs for victory.

On the other hand, Nepal defeated Scotland by 5 wickets. Nepal settled the winning target of 145 runs in 25.1 overs losing 5 wickets. Young opener Asif Sheikh scored 71 runs off 62 balls with 10 fours and 1 six to give Nepal a trouble-free victory.

Opener batsman Kushal Bhurtel is failing to perform lately. The number three batsman Dev Khanal’s performance also doesn’t meet expectations. But Nepal is most worried about Dipendra Singh Aire as his performance is downfalling. Nepal anticipates a big innings from Dipendra but with a constant subpar performance Dipendra was dismissed for 4 runs in the first match and 3 runs in the second match.

With high level performance from Sompal Kami and Adil Ansari, Nepal scraped through to send all Scotland players off the crease for 144 runs in the previous match against the home side. Here and Now, Nepal also wants top notch performance from Karan and Sandeep. Namibian skipper Gerhard Erasmus is the main batsman of the team. JJ Smit and David Wiese are dominant all-rounders.

Nepali batsmen need to face fast bowlers like Ruben Trumpelmann, Tangeni Lungameni and Bernard Scholtz. Ruben’s performance will be very crucial in the match. Ruben, a left-arm fast bowler, performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup last year.

Namibia awaits a top class performance from Ruben. Zane Green and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton are known for their good batting and can be a threat to Nepal. Like Nepal, Namibia is also under pressure to win the remaining matches to finish in the top three. The team that wins the toss first can dominate the game as the fast bowler can be the game changers.
