Nepal’s Big Loss Against Japan Confirms ASIAD Exit

By a Staff Reporter

Wenzhou – Nepal Women’s National Football Team faced a big setback in their second group stage match of the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD) against Japan.

The match, held at the Wenzhou Olympic Stadium, saw Nepal conceding an early goal and ultimately suffering an 8-0 defeat. Japan established a commanding 5-0 lead in the first half and added three more goals in the second.

Japan’s youthful squad consistently pressured Nepal throughout the game, forcing them to adopt a defensive strategy. However, Sabitra Bhandari’s efforts prevented the Japanese defense from gaining confidence with counter-attacks.

Nepal had previously lost 2-0 to Vietnam in their opening match of the tournament. In another group stage fixture played today, Vietnam secured a 6-1 victory against Bangladesh. Nepal will take on Bangladesh in the final group match on Thursday.

Both Nepal and Bangladesh find themselves out of contention in the group. The outcome of the final group stage match between Japan and Vietnam will determine the group winners.
