By a Staff Reporter

Kathmandu – Nepal National Team footballer Aashish Chaudhary has signed for Dhangadhi FC, the runners-up of the first edition, as a marquee player.

Dhangadhi FC, owned by ‘Go Dreamers,’ secured Aashish as their marquee player in the absence of Bishal Rai, who played a pivotal role for the team in the inaugural edition. Aashish, aged 23, known for his adaptability across various positions, currently represents Church Boys United in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League.

Aashish played a crucial part in Church Boys United clinching the A Division League title and was previously honored with the Most Valuable Player award when his team emerged as champions in the B Division League.

Debuting for Nepal on September 27, 2022, in a match against Bangladesh, Aashish has earned six caps. His notable achievement includes scoring the decisive goal in Nepal’s 1-0 victory over Pakistan during the SAFF Championship held in Bangalore last June.

Aashish expressed his commitment to contribute to the team’s success as a marquee player, stating, “We aim to build on our runners-up finish from the first season through hard work and dedication. We are preparing to acquire the necessary players through auctions and bring in talent from abroad to strengthen the team.”

Dhangadhi FC President Subash Shahi conveyed his excitement about signing Aashish Chaudhary for the upcoming season. “With the addition of Aashish, one of Nepal’s most talented footballers, our team’s enthusiasm has soared. We anticipate tremendous support from him this season,” Shahi remarked.

In the inaugural edition’s final, Dhangadhi FC narrowly lost 1-0 to Kathmandu Razyrs FC. The NSL auctions are set to take place on Saturday.
