Nepal’s batting woes lead to a humiliating defeat against Canada

Nepal’s batting woes haunted the visitors as they suffered a humiliating 83-run defeat to Canada in the second and last ODI match at the Maple Leaf Cricket Stadium in King City, Canada. With this defeat, hosts Canada won the two-match series 1-0.  

Canada had presented 189-run target for Nepal. Chasing the modest target, Nepal were all out for just 105 runs in 39.2 overs.    
Dev Khanal was the top scorer for Nepal with 26 runs off 49 balls while Pawan Saraf contributed 14 runs.    
Likewise, Binod Bhandari, Basir Ahamed and Adil Alam all added 13 runs each while Captain Sandeep Lamichhane contributed 11 runs, Rohit Poudel six, Karan KC 5 and Kushal Bhurtel 1. Dipendra Singh Aire and Aarif Sheikh were sent to pavilion without any score.    
Canada’s bowlers Amar Khalid, Salman Najar, Romel Sahajad, Sad Win Jafar and Harsha Thaker took two wickets each.    


Earlier, Canada were invited to bat first after losing the toss, and managed 188 runs at the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs.    
Canada’s Shreyas Mova scored 50 runs while Aron Johnson contributed 44 runs. Likewise, Amar Khalid contributed 30 runs for Canada.    
The first ODI against Canada was cancelled due to rain.    
Nepal toured Canada for practice matches ahead of their triangular ODI series to be held in Scotland under the ICC World Cup League-2. Nepal will take on Scotland and Namibia in the league.
