NRT suffers another blow

Kathmandu – New Road Team (NRT) suffered another defeat in a friendly match in Thailand during their pre-season tour. NRT were defeated 5-2 by Thailand’s third-tier club Kasem Bundit University FC on Thursday.

Sanjok Rai and Stefan Winnong were on target for NRT. At one point of the match, the game was 2-2 but NRT conceded three more goals for the wide-margin loss.

NRT took the lead with a goal from  Rai in the 23rd minute. However, NRT could not maintain their lead and ultimately lost the mach. The Thai club hit back an equalizer in the 32nd minute and then took the lead in the  47th minute. However, Stefan made the score 2-2 a minute later but the Thai club added three more goals in the 64th minute, 81st minute and an  injury-time goal to seal the match.

NRT will next face Chonburi FC on July 10 and Thonburi FC on July 13 in friendly matches in Thailand. Following the two matches, NRT will return home.

Prior to this, NRT lost both its matches under the TYT Cup held in Malaysia. They also lost a match against Indonesia’s League 2 Club Karo FC 5-1 and were beaten in another match by Malaysian Super League Club  Penang FC 5-0.
