Kathmandu – Zimbabwe’s ‘A’ team is ready to visit Nepal to play ODI and T20 series in the near future. Acting Secretary of Cricket Association of Nepal Prashant Bikram Malla confirmed that the ‘A’ team of Zimbabwe will be visiting Nepal to play three ODI series and three T20 matches.
However, the matches will not be recognized as ODI and T20I because the ‘A’ team of Zimbabwe will be visiting Nepal. The matches will be considered as List A matches and T20 status.
CAN informed that Zimbabwe will be sending a strong team with first-choice players.
According to Malla, the series will be held in April/May this year. He added that the series will kick off towards the end of April. This series will serve as a preparation for Nepal’s ICC World Cup League-2 matches against the USA and Oman in June. Nepal will then head towards Scotland to play other League-2 matches.
Nepal on Monday lifted a triangular T20I series title involving Papua New Guinea and Malaysia.
Nepal are sixth in the ICC World Cup League 2 with 12 points from 12 matches including 6 wins and 6 losses.
Oman lead the standings with 17 wins and 9 losses from 28 matches. The top three teams of the seven-team League 2 will directly qualify for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. The remaining four will have to compete in the play-offs.
The ICC World Cup League 2 serve as qualifiers for the upcoming ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. Nepal, Oman, Scotland, Namibia, USA, Papua New Guinea and the UAE are competing in the League 2 that will run until 2023. Each team will play a total of 36 matches in home and away format.
