Kathmandu – Nepal will face the UAE in the semifinal of the ACC T20 Championship 2022 on Friday. If Nepal defeats the UAE in the semifinal, they will qualify for the Women’s Asia Cup.
Nepal reached the semifinal as the runner-up of Group B while the UAE made it to the semis as winners of Group A. UAE topped the group after defeating Qatar in the final match of the group stage by 153 runs. In another semifinal, Group A runner-up Malaysia will take on Group B winner Hong Kong.
The two teams that make it to the final will get an opportunity to play the Women’s Asia Cup.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Thailand have already qualified for the Asia Cup.
Nepal reached the semifinal of the ACC T20 Championship after winning 3 matches and losing 1 in the group stage. Nepal had defeated Bhutan by 50 runs in the first match followed by a 25-run win over Kuwait and an 8 wicket victory over Bahrain. Nepal then lost its final match of the group stage against Hong Kong by 7 wickets to settle for the second position in the group.
