Kathmandu – Nepal’s Olympians held a reunion on Tuesday on the occasion of the Olympic Day 2022.

The players who represented Nepal in the Olympics gathered together at the initiative of Nepal Olympians’ Association (NOA). Nepali Olympians who took part in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics as well as those who participated in other Olympics until the recently held Tokyo 2020 Olympics were present during the reunion.
There are altogether 88 Olympians in Nepal including 84 who attended the Summer Olympics and 4 who took part in the Youth Olympics. Among them, 9 Olympians have already passed away.
During the reunion, NOA felicitated 12 senior Olympians. Those who were felicitated include Nam Singh Thapa (boxing), Ram Prasad Gurung (boxing), Umesh Maskey (boxing), Rabi Raj Thapa (boxing), Narendra Poma (boxing), Baikuntha Manandhar (athletics), Jit Bahadur KC (athletics), Bhakta Bahadur Sapkota (athletics), Laxman Basnet (athletics), Raghu Raj Onta (athletics), Mukunda Hari Shrestha (athletics), and Rajendra Pradhan (weightlifting).
Minister for Youth and Sports Mahesjwar Jung Gahatraj, NSC Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha, NOA President Deepak Bista, actor Rajesh Hamal and Madan Krishna Shrestha were also present during the reunion.
