Nepal to face Maldives in the opener of SAFF U20 today

Nepal National U20 team will begin its SAFF U20 Championship campaign by taking on Maldives today. The match will kick off at 4:15 PM NST at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneshwar.

Nepal is aiming for an easy victory against Maldives in its first outing of SAFF U20 Championship. In the pre match press conference Nepal’s Head Coach Meghraj KC stated that his team is unaware about the opponent but the team is ready to face and snatch all the three points from the first match. Likewise, Skipper Aayush Ghalan stated that they are Gorkhali and they will fight till the end to achieve the victory. 

On the other hand, Maldives coach Ahmed Shakir stated that he has limited knowledge about Nepal. However he believes that the result will be in their favour.

The championship, which was previously held under the name of SAFF U19 and SAFF U18, is now being held under the name of SAFF U20 Championship. Nepal had won the first two editions while India had won the latest edition.

The match will be live telecasted on Eleven Sports.
