Nepal records comfortable victory over MCC

Kathmandu – The women’s team of the world-famous Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) lost to the Mixed XI Women’s team of Nepal in the first outing of their Tour to Nepal.

The Nepalese team registered a comfortable victory of 107 runs at the Mulpani Cricket Ground on Monday. MCC, who won the toss and offered batting to the home side received a target of 214 runs. Nepal collected 213 runs in the scheduled 40 overs losing 9 wickets.

Opener Kajol Shrestha and Kanchan Shrestha scored half-centuries for the home side. Kajol bagged 53 runs off 54 deliveries with 10 fours. Kanchan added 55 runs to the tally off 99 balls with 6 fours. Apsari Begam, Rubina Chhetri, and Kabita Joshi returned to the pavilion collecting 2, 14, and 6 runs respectively.

Samjhana Khadka scored 25 runs off 22 balls with 2 fours. Kabita Kunwar contributed 27 runs to the scoresheet off 19 balls with 5 fours. While Ashmina Karmacharya collected 7 runs, Sangita Rai summed 2 more. Soni Pakhrin and Ishwari Bista remained unbeaten for 3 and 1 run respectively. MCC’s Saba Nasim took 2 wickets whereas Rachael Potter, Elysa Hubbard, Isabelle Gurney, and Sarah Cray took 1 wicket each.

Chasing a winning target of 214 runs, MCC got all out for 106 runs in 32nd over. Home side Skipper Rubina took 3 MCC wickets. Opener Mia Rogers got bowled by Kabita Kunwar in the third ball of the first over without bagging any run. Elysa Hubbard scored 14 runs, Saba Nasim scored 21 runs and Jenny Kitzinger scored 17 runs in the middle order.

Due to the continuous fall of wickets in the lower order, MCC faced a defeat over Nepal Mixed XI. While Jolene Foster collected 15 runs, Shweta Chaudhuri was sent off by Soni Pakhrin in the very first ball. Sarah Cray contributed 1 run, Isabelle Gurney added 7, and Rachel Potter collected 2 runs for MMC. Ria Raval remained unbeaten for 4 runs.
