ICC U-19 lost to MCC

Kathmandu – MCC Women’s team recorded its first victory in their Tour to Nepal defeating ICC U-19 Women’s team by 16 runs at TU Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

MCC, who won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 175 runs losing 3 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Opener Clare Taylor collected the highest runs of 97 for MCC off 66 deliveries with 15 fours. Claire failed to complete her century by 3 runs as she got bowled by Samaira Dharnidharka in the fifth ball of the 19th over.

Clare and Mia Rogers got off to a good start with a partnership of 71 runs for the first wicket. Taylor and Amanda Potgieter then shared 89 runs partnership for the second wicket. Amanda got back to the dugout for 40 runs off 26 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Mia collected 16 runs off 25 deliveries with 1 four and Rachel Potter added 4 runs. Kritika Marasini took 1 wicket giving away 26 runs in 4 overs for ICC U-19. Vaishnavi Mahesh and Samaira took a wicket each.

ICC has formed a team of 13 players from different countries based on their performance in the U19 World Cup qualifiers from Asia. Kritika, Srishti Jaishi and Ashma Pulami Magar are included from Nepal.

ICC U-19 failed to chase a target of 176 runs. They collected 159 runs in the scheduled 20 overs losing 4 wickets. Theertha Satish bagged the highest runs of 80 off 50 balls with 14 fours remaining unbeaten.

Opener Saachi Dhadwal summed 17 runs in 15 balls with 3 fours. Aleena Khan and Theertha shared a partnership of 47 runs for the second wicket. Aleena added 19 runs to the tally off 22 balls with 2 fours. Vaishnavi and Theertha shared a 65-run partnership for the third wicket.

Srishti Jaisi was off for 5 runs in 4 balls with 1 boundary. Samira found her way back to the dugout collecting 6 runs with 1 four off 6 balls. Ria Raval, Isabelle Gurney, Rachael Potter, and Jolene Foster took a wicket each for MCC.
