Nepal picks comfortable victory over Hong Kong

Dubai – Nepal picked a comfortable victory of 9 wickets over Hong Kong in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier at Malek Cricket Ground in Ajman.

Hong Kong’s Inning

Hong Kong, who won the toss and elected to bat first, lost all its wicket for 120 runs in 46.3 overs. Parth Bhagwat contributed the highest of 36 runs off 93 deliveries with 4 fours for the losing side. Moreover, Mohammad Aliyaan Zahir scored second highest of 29 runs off 67 deliveries. While Ahan Trivdei added 11 runs to the tally, opener duo Aarez Dar and Ansh Rupesh Doshi left the crease for 2 and 8 runs.

Moreover, Shiv Mathur 8, Abdul Samad Khan 1, Muhammad Mudassar Khan 6, Daniel Morgan Mapp 5, Darsh Vora 7, and Paraspreet Singh* collected 1 run.

Nepal’s pacer Hemant Dhami picked up the utmost of 3 wickets with 3 maidens expending 19 runs in 9 overs. Moreover, with Subash Bhandari and Aakash Chand claiming 2 wickets each, Dipesh Kandel took apiece.

In return, Nepal chased the winning target of 121 runs scoring 126 in just 22.1 overs. Nepal lost only a wicket in form of Arjun Kumal in 5.2 overs. Man of the Match Aakash Tripathi, played a half-century inning to help Nepal win the third match in a row. Aakash stroke 5 fours and 4 sixes to contribute 64 runs off 72 deliveries. Moreover, Uttam Thapa Magar contributed 39 runs off 50 balls including 4 fours. Aakash and Uttam shared 98 runs not-out partnership to seal Nepal’s victory.

Hong Kong’s Daniel Morgan Mapp booked the lone wicket. With the victory, Nepal moved a step closer to getting qualified for the World Cup. Nepal now needs to defeat UAE on March 2 to qualify for the World Cup. The qualifier is being hosted by the UAE, with Nepal, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia, and Singapore competing.
