Nepal lost its first group stage match against Bhutan in an ongoing AFC U20 Championship 2023 qualifiers.

Bhutan trounced Nepal by 2-0 at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa, Bahrain. Bhutan took a lead through Sonam Chemjong in the 33rd minute. Sonam utilized the miscommunication between the Nepalese Goal Keeper and Defender.
Bhutan doubled the lead in the early minutes of the second half. Karma Tashi took advantage of Nepal’s weak defensive line. Karma smashed in half volley following the flick header of Sonam.

Abishek Waiba was booked with Red in the final minutes of injury time as he made a dangerous foul. Nepal is drawn in Group B alongside Qatar, Bahrain, Bhutan, and Bangladesh in U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers. The group stage matches will be held from September 10 to 18.
