Marquee players for Nepal T20 finalized

Kathmandu – Teams to vie in Nepal T20 league picked up their Marquee players worth 1.5 million amidst a first-round draft program on Saturday.

Pokhara Avengers booked Aasif Sheikh as their marquee player. All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee is snatched by America-based Lumibini All-Stars. Former skipper of the National Cricket team Gyanendra Malla will feature Kathmandu Capital as a marquee player.

Far Western United took all-rounder Karan KC, Biratnagar King took National team vice-captain Rohit Paudel and Janakpur Royal selected fast bowler Sompal Kami as the marquee player.

While Pokhara bought Sarad Veshwakar from category A with a fee of 1.5 million, Avinash Bohora, Aarif Sheikh, Binod Bhandari, Kushal Bhurtel, and Subash Khakurel of A category remained unsold. They have now been degraded to category B. Draft of the remaining 92 players will take place on Sunday.  

Kantipur Capital, Lumbini All Stars, Biratnagar Super Kings, Janakpur Royals, Pokhara Avengers, and Far Western United will vie for the title of first-ever Nepal T20.    

Nepal T20 League will begin from September 24 to October 22, 2022. The competition will be played on a double round-robin basis.

A grade player will get a minimum pay of Rs.15 lakhs. Similarly, B-grade and C-grade players will get a minimum wage of Rs.10 lakhs and Rs.5 lakhs each.

Indian company Seven Three Sports will be a strategic and commercial partnership of Nepal T20 League. CAN had sold the rights of Nepal T20 to Seven Three Sports for the time period of 8 years for 33 crores.
