15 goals thriller at Dashrath Stadium today

Kathmandu – Bangladesh scored 6 past Pakistan while and mighty India hammered Maldives 9-0 in ongoing SAFF Women’s Championship at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu.

In the first match of the day, Bangladesh registered a 6-0 victory over Pakistan. Skipper Sabina Khatun scored a hat-trick whereas Monika Chakma, Mosammat Sirat Jahan Shopna, and Ritu Porna Chakma scored one each.

Monika scored in the third minute after the kickoff to give Bangladesh an early lead. Shopna doubled the lead for Bangladesh in the 28th minute of the match. Sabina scored her first and Bangladesh’s third in the 31st minute. She doubled her goal tally in the 35th minute and completed her hat-trick in the 58th. Ritu made it 6-0 in the 77th minute.

In the second match of the day, India trashed Maldives by 9-0. Anju Tamang scored 4, Dangmei Grace scored a brace whereas Priyangka Devi, Soumya Guguloth, and Kashmina added apiece in the scoresheet.

Anju netted first in the 24th minute. Priyangka Devi doubled the lead in 42nd. Anju scored the third for India in the injury time of the first half.

Grace opened her account in the 53rd minute. Soumya came off the bench in the second half to score India’s fifth in the 55th minute. India then added 4 goals in the final 4 minutes to register a comfortable victory. Kashmina, who stepped on the field in the 65th minute scored in the 84th minute of the match. Anju completed her hat trick in 85th. Grace scored her second in 86th and Anju scored her fourth and final goal of the day in the 88th minute of the match.

Four-goal scorer Anju Tamang was adjudged the Player of The Match. India and Bangladesh have booked their spot in the semifinals. India stands atop in Group A with 6 points. Bangladesh is level on points but stands second on goal difference. Pakistan and Maldives are yet to add any points. India will now face Bangladesh on September 13 and Maldives will face Pakistan on the same day.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals. The final is scheduled for 19th September.
