Nepal began its CAVA U23 Men’s Volleyball Championship campaign with a defeat. Hosts Bangladesh beat visitors Nepal in a straight set of 3-0 in an inaugural match of the championship.

Nepal, who were trailing 2-8 earlier in the first set, managed to equalize (10-10) and took a lead of 12-10. However, Nepal failed to defend the lead and went down narrowly 24-26 in the first set.
Nepal took an early lead of 7-2 in the second set but Bangladesh regained their momentum and won the set by 22-25. Nepal continued to display a dominant performance in the third set as well. Even so, the visitors lost the set by 25-21.
Nepal will face Sri Lanka in the second outing of the championship on 23rd December. Every participating team will directly qualify for the semis in a championship participated by four nations.
The semi-final will kick off on 25th December and the final of the championship will be held on 26th December. Jagadish Bhatta is in charge of Nepal’s U23 squad.
