Nepal suffers second defeat in a row

The Nepal Volleyball team suffered its second consecutive defeat in the CAVA U23 Men’s Volleyball Championship. Nepal went down to Sri Lanka in a straight set of 3-0 at Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Dhaka.

Nepal managed to give a tough fight in the first set. However, Sri Lanka overcame Nepal 24-26. Sri Lanka dominated Nepal in the second set and registered a victory of 18-25. Sri Lanka continued its momentum and defeated Nepal 17-25 in the third set to record a clean-sheet victory.

With a victory over Nepal, Sri Lanka earned its first 3 points from 2 Games. Nepal is yet to earn any points.

Earlier, Nepal lost to hosts Bangladesh in a straight set in an inaugural match whereas Kyrgyzstan registered a 3-1 victory over Sri Lanka.

Nepal will now face Kyrgyzstan in the last match of the group stage on 24th December. Every participating team will directly qualify for the semis in a championship participated by four nations.

The semi-final of the championship is scheduled for 25th December and the final of the championship will be held on 26th December.
