Manchester City have beaten PSG and are through to the UCL final for the first time in their history. A Riyad Mahrez inspired City the win with his two goals.
PSG tried to control the game from the start but couldn’t keep up the pressure for more than half an hour. PSG looked nowhere near as Pep’s City displayed an art of defensive unit. PSG were awarded a penalty early in the first half for a handball by Zinchenko. But VAR ruled it out as the ball had only hit the upper shoulder.
Ederson picked up Zinchenko in the right wing who started the run from his own half and pulled it back for De Bryune, whose shot was blocked by Marquinhos. Then Mahrez found the ball and slot it past Navas from a close range.
PSG tried to come back in the game through Di Maria in the second half but his shot was well wide off the post. Marquinhos also hit the bar from a close-range header. Phil Foden came to scoring twice but couldn’t give City more advantage. In the 63rd minute, Mahrez doubled the lead and City were 2-0 up.
In the 69th minute, Di Maria was sent off for kicking Fernandinho and problems started for PSG. Series of fouls started after the incident. PSG couldn’t come close to making a clear-cut chance and hence the match ended 2-0.
Manchester City will play either of Real Madrid or Chelsea in the Final of 2021 UCL in Istanbul.
