Manchester City beat Tottenham to win Carabao Cup

Aymeric Laporte’s header won Pep Guardiola and his side fourth consecutive Carabao Cup. The match also saw 8,000 fans allowed into the stadium as lockdown is beginning to ease.

City had much too many for Tottenham and it was not Spurs who did not fail to show up but Man City being brilliant. On 26 minutes, Phil Foden had one of the best chances. But his eight-yard shot deflected off Toby Alderweireld. Raheem Sterling’s shot went only wide moments later, and the half started with both teams tied.

Spurs started the first half bright. Two minutes in, Giovani Lo Celso forced Zack Steffen into excellent save. Lloris was pressured into a host of decent saves as City started to pound his post. However, after 10 minutes, Laporte headed a free kick from Kevin De Bruyne past Lloris.

Manchester City and Liverpool now share the greatest number of League cups (8).
