Kathmandu – The two-time defending champions Machhindra Football Club moved to the second position in an ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League. Their hopes for another title remain alive after a stunning 3-1 victory over Satdobato Youth Club at the ANFA Complex on Wednesday.
Machhindra’s star player, Olawale Afeez Oladipo, stole the show with a remarkable hat trick, leading his team to victory. Jordan Pun Magar scored a consolation goal for Satdobato, but it was not enough to overshadow Olawale’s impressive performance. With the hat trick, Olawale also became the league’s top goal scorer, having netted 18 goals so far.
Olawale began the scoring in the 17th minute. He continued to dominate, doubling Machhindra’s lead in the 4th minute of first-half injury time. In the 56th minute, Olawale sealed his hat-trick, securing a convincing victory for his team. Despite Jordan Pun Magar’s goal for Satdobato in the 84th minute, it failed to have a significant impact on the outcome of the match.
With this crucial win, Machhindra moved to the second position in the league standings, accumulating 39 points. They now trail behind the league leaders, Church Boys United, by a mere 2 points. Satdobato, on the other hand, finds themselves in 7th position with 29 points from 23 matches.
In another match held at Chyasal Stadium, Three Star Club and Sankata Club played out a goalless draw. Both teams remain in the relegation-threatened 11th and 12th positions, each with 27 points. They are only 3 points ahead of Friends Club and FC Khumaltar, who currently find themselves in the relegation zone.
