Kathmandu – Tribhuvan Army Football Club skipper Bharat Khawas has been promoted to Captain of the Nepali Army on Sunday.
Khawas was presented with a Captain’s badge by Nepal Army Air Force Chief Ashish Narasimha Rana at the military headquarters in Bhadrakali amidst a program. Khawas, who debuted in the national team almost a decade and a half ago was struggling to don national colors after the arrival of coach Abdullah Almutairi.
He has been included in the preliminary squad of the national team on the same day of his promotion for the friendly match against Bangladesh next month.
Khawas expressed his happiness claiming it is his lucky day. “I got promoted today and got an opportunity to make a comeback in the national team on the same day. It is a lucky day for me,” said Khawas. “I was already the captain of the national team. Now, I am Captain of the army as well. I have to prove my worth once again in football. I along with my family are joyed today,” he added.
