Kathmandu (Hamro Khelkud) – Kazakh player Yevgeniya Kalinova will play for Madhesh United in the Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL).
Madhesh United has become the first team to sign a foreign player for the EWVL. The league, which is being organized by Infinity Dreams, will be the first-ever women’s franchise volleyball league, though the dates are yet to be finalized.
Madhesh United has expressed happiness in signing the experienced Kazakh player Kalinova. ‘The 35-year-old Kalinova has experience playing for Kazakhstan’s national team and in the Kazakh league. She is a spiker and stands at 180 cm tall,’ clube mentioned in the press release.
Madhesh United stated that Kalinova is excited and eager to play for the team. Madhesh United’s Operations Head, Sanjaya Shrestha, mentioned that Kalinova’s experience will be greatly beneficial to the team.
Nepal’s national team and APF’s spiker Niruta Thagunna is the marquee player for Madhesh United. The team also includes national players Sangam Mahato and Shantikala Tamang, as well as U-20 players Elisha Manandhar and Ashika Kshetri.
Additionally, Hira KC, Puja Tharu, and Jasna Mahato are part of Madhesh United’s squad. Both Hira and Puja have previously played for the national team. The assistant coach of the national team, Bharat Yadav, will be the head coach for the team. Six teams will participate in the EWVL.
